Sample Tours Day One

We concentrate our tours mainly in Indre et Loire where the greatest number of fine chateaux are to be found.
Some of the chateaux are alongside the Loire but many others are on or near other rivers that join the Loire on its route west, the Vienne, Cher and Indre.
Whilst most people come to visit the chateaux, time should be taken to explore the towns in the area which in themselves are very beautiful.

On the first day we start with a visit to the chateau at Chenonceaux. If you only ever visit one chateau this should be the one. We then visit a wine producer near Amboise and taste his excellent range of wines before taking lunch in the medieval town of Amboise.

After lunch we visit the chateau which is situated in the centre of the town. The chateau was built by Charles VIII and then completed by Francois Premier, who was responsible for bringing the Renaissance style to France.
